    Abstract

    Marriages between British Pakistanis and Pakistani nationals are common, and often take place between cousins (or more distant relatives). Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in Britain and Pakistani, I consider the various ways in which issues of closeness and distance - in terms of geography, kinship and emotion - are negotiated in these kinds of marriages.
