Research and Enterprise Development

Biography

In his current role, John supports the development and promotion of impact of the University’s research portfolio in the Faculty of Health Sciences under the direction of Managers in Commercialisation and Impact Development. John can help broker and develop relationships with partners in business, industry, the public sector and charities, refine project ideas, advise on suitable funding sources, and assist with bid writing.

John's role is to provide expert advice and guidance in the development of collaboration and engagement with non-academic partners, support the development of plans and funding bids to advance impact, and act as a critical link between the Faculties’ and RED’s complementary enterprise and innovation activities.

John joined the University of Bristol in 2006 working as a research assistant for the Centre for Romantic Studies, before joining the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded Aquatest Project as Project Officer. From 2011 to 2014 he coordinated the University of Bristol's impact submission to REF2014, and more recently coordinated a number of projects to improve the experience of postgraduate research students across the GW4 Alliance. He completed an MA in Romanticism here at the University of Bristol, and has a BA in Modern History and English from the University of Oxford.
