I received a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh before undertaking a PhD with Graham Collingridge at the University of Bristol, co-supervised by David Lodge at Eli Lilly. After post-doc work in Bristol I moved to Manchester as a Lecturer in Neuroscience before returning to Bristol. In 2010 I moved to industry, working at Eli Lilly in Windlesham on a number of neuroscience projects.

In 2013 I returned to Bristol as a Teaching Fellow and progressed to Senior Teaching Fellow in 2017.


I am Programme Director for the MSc in Biomedical Sciences Research.

I teach on the following units:
BSc Year 1: Mechanisms of Drug Action 1; Pharmacology 1A; Pharmacology 1B; Introduction to Neuroscience
BSc Year 2: Pharmacology 2A; Pharmacology 2B
BSc Year 3: Synaptic Plasticity; Pharmacology of the Nervous System
MSc: Pharmacology
BVSc: Animal Disease 1 (year 2); Animal Disease 2 (year 3)
BDS: Health Sciences: Pharmacology (year 2)
MBChB: Case-based learning (year 1)

I am also Unit Director for Pharmacology 1A and Mechanisms of Drug Action in Year 1 of our BSc, and the Pharmacology unit on the MSc in Biomedical Sciences Research.
