Dr Steve Fitzjohn

I received a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh before undertaking a PhD with Graham Collingridge at the University of Bristol, co-supervised by David Lodge at Eli Lilly, investigating the role of metabotropic glutamate receptors in the induction of long-term depression in the rodents hippocampus using in vitro electrophysiology. After post-doc work in Bristol on mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in normal animals and models of Alzheimer’s disease, I moved to Manchester as a Lecturer in Neuroscience before returning to Bristol.

In 2010 I moved to industry, working at Eli Lilly in Windlesham on a number of neuroscience projects, including investigating forebrain-selective antagonists of AMPA receptors as potential novel therapies for epilepsy.

In 2013 I returned to Bristol as a Teaching Fellow.
