Personal profile

Nikos is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting at the University of Bristol. He has completed a BSc (with distinction, ranked 2nd) in Accounting and Finance at the University of Macedonia, MSc (with distinction, ranked 1st) in Banking and Finance at the International Hellenic University, and PhD (President’s Doctoral Scholar Award) in Accounting at the University of Manchester, where he was also a part-time tutor. He has worked as Research Assistant at the El Shaarani Centre for Islamic Business and Finance (EIBF) at Aston Business School, Aston University. He is also a Visiting Researcher at Lancaster University Management School. He has been the recipient of scholarships from the University of Manchester and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and has received a grant from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

His research reflects a longstanding interest in the areas of market-based accounting, textual analysis and natural language processing. His main research interests lie in corporate disclosures and information intermediaries. Some of his recent work examines the role of the financial media in the information transmission process relative to corporate announcements, and the extent to which the financial press serves as an important information intermediary in the capital markets.
