Personal profile

Jenny joined the University of Bristol in 2015, having previously worked at the University of the West of England and the University of Gloucestershire. Following a successful career in marketing, she entered academia and completed her PGCE in Business Education in 1998, and her MA in Business and Management Research in 2002. Her PhD, a cross-disciplinary thesis on political brand conceptualisation, was awarded in 2006 and she is currently Chair of the Academy of Marketing Special Interest Group in Political Marketing.

Primarily, Jenny’s research interests focus around drivers of involvement, motivation and engagement in the fields of politics and also in education. Jenny has presented at national and international conferences in the fields of marketing and politics and has published extensively on the subject of political branding, political communication and voter insight.

From a pedagogical perspective, she is particularly interested in the perceived function of feedback and the factors that impact student transition and success and has organised staff seminars to disseminate good practice amongst colleagues.  She has also presented papers at the ABS on innovative forms of curriculum delivery and, in particular the use of the ‘flipped classroom’.

In 2014, her co-authored textbook, ‘Marketing Communications’, was published by Routledge, Abingdon, Oxon.
