Mr Joseph Asplet

Imaging the Earth's Dynamic Mantle (Supervisor: Dr James Wookey)

My research is in global theoretical and observational seismolology, which I use to study the Earth's lowermost mantle. My PhD project — funded by the Natural Environment Reasearch Council GW4+ Doctoral Training Program — is focused on improving our understanding of seismic anisotropy in the Earth's lowermost mantle. My most recent research has been in developing a new method for robustly resolving signals from the lowermost mantle in SKS-SKKS shear-wave splitting observations. I have applied our new methods to study the lowermost mantle beneath the Easter Pacific and am now focused on expanding the scope of my work.
