Mark Bond completed his BSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Nottingham in 1994. He then joined Prof. Andrew Newby’s group, initially at the University of Cardiff, Wales (later moving with Prof. Newby to Bristol) to study the regulation of matrix metalloproteinase gene expression by inflammatory cytokines and growth factors. Following his PhD, he joined Dr Andrew Baker’s group to study the mechanistic basis for the pro-apoptotic effects of TIMP3.
