I am the head of the Oral Nanoscience research group.
Our primary research interests are the development, characterisation and application of multifunctional clinical nanomaterials. Of particular interest are antimicrobial and antifungal technologies.
We are currently developing a novel antmicrobial technology based on chlorhexidine, which can be used in a wide range of dental and medical materials and devices. The technology is the subject of two patent applications and the development is supported by research council and Innovate UK funding.
I am Reader in Biomaterials and Deputy Head of Bristol Dental School. I am also the founder and CEO of a University of Bristol spin-out company, Pertinax Pharma Ltd.
I graduated from the University of Oxford in 1998 with an MPhys (undergraduate physics degree) and the University of Bristol with a PhD in 2003.
