Research

Tim (Timotius) Kasim is a Lecturer in Accounting. Tim holds a Doctorate degree (DPhil) from the University of Oxford and a Master's degree (MSc) from the LSE.

Tim's research interest concerns the role of accounting in constructing a sustainable business. In his current research projects, Tim explores this issue from corporate, standard-setting, and regulatory perspectives. From a corporate perspective, Tim examines the role of carbon reporting in enabling managers to make sense of the climate change impact of the organisation, and then construct plausible economic arguments for justifying carbon management practices. From a standard-setting perspective, Tim's research explores the harmonisation of sustainability reporting standards with financial reporting standards, and critically assesses the benefit and the drawback of those types of harmonisation work. From a regulatory perspective, Tim's research examines the regulation of non-financial reporting, and identifies the role of financial reporting regulator in challenging the taken-for-granted assumptions about accounting to allow the expansion of its boundary into the non-financial reporting space.
