Research summary

My research draws on the statistical analysis of large and complex datasets to explore a variety of topics relating to family decision-making and trajectories of children’s educational and socio-emotional development over the life course. My work is explicitly inter-disciplinary and I regularly work with colleagues with backgrounds in population health, demography, economics and psychology. One recent strand of work focuses on cross-national comparisons of socioeconomic inequalities in child development. Biography

My background is in economics, in which I received a B.A. from the Univeristy of Cambridge (1998), and an M.Sc. (2001) and Ph.D. (2007) from the University of Bristol. As a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow I spent a year as post-doc at Columbia University School of Social Work and I have also held visiting positions at the VU University, Amsterdam, the Russell Sage Foundation, New York, and the University of New South Wales, Australia. I joined the School of Education in 2010 as a researcher in the Centre for Multilevel Modelling, and became at lecturer in 2012.
